Hey y'all, I really need a hand, my Scag STC48 V 24BS is acting up. The key switch is new, and I have a good 12.7V battery, but turning the key just gets clicks and weak flywheel spin. When jumping the solenoid directly, it starts great...so I am thinking it's wiring between key and solenoid, any ideas?

Hmm, I think you're already right about the weird wiring/bad connection between the key and solenoid. So better check those grounds and wiring harness thoroughly because there may be a loose wire or corrosion. If anything, tighten up what you find and you should be back to mowing real quick
I'd check the full path from the ignition to the solenoid for continuity and any visible damage , and maybe test voltage at the solenoid when turning the key to pinpoint the problem.
