I'm having a problem with my 48-inch Scag belt drive walk-behind mower. The mower won't drive properly in 1st or 2nd gear under normal operation. However, if I pull up on the gear shift lever, it will drive in those gears—just not consistently or as it should.
Gears 3 through 5 work normally with no issues.
I'm looking for help diagnosing the problem. Could it be an issue with the gear linkage, belt tension, or something in the transmission?
