Stick with Kawasaki engine?

Ok, here's the deal. I've always wanted a zero-turn mower. One of those "someday" kinda things. Well, I'm finally retired and figured why not treat myself? My daughters have been of much help anyway. My wife, she just brings color to my life.

I'm now set on picking up a Scag. But the problem is, I'm thinking if I should go between 42" with Kawasaki engine or 48" but with another one. I'm not sure just how reliable.

Would I regret losing the extra 6 inches of cut width just to get the Kawasaki? Appreciate your insights.

Kawasaki is generally considered a top-tier choice for reliability and longevity in zero-turn mowers.
The peace of mind and potential for fewer maintenance headaches with a Kawasaki often outweighs the slight loss in deck size.
Losing 6 inches of cut width might add a bit of time to your mowing, if you're working on a larger property.
But I don't think the time difference is that significant if it's just for residential use.
 
Kawasaki engines have a strong reputation for reliability and that peace of mind can go a long way. The extra 6" of deck width might save a little time but unless you're mowing a huge property, it's not a dealbreaker. If durability and fewer headaches are the priority, the Kawasaki powered 42" Scag is a safe bet. 💯
 
If it were me, I'd stick with the Kawasaki. That engine's gonna outlast your paint job, and 6 inches won't matter much unless you're mowing acres.
 
Kawasaki is tried and true. However the Briggs Vanguard is also right up there. I would not shy away from the Vanguard. The Kohlers reviews are not great, the pro with those is that they are more fuel efficient.
